Own your music

Is Nucube for you?

A dedicated player for people who keep their own music files and want a clean experience across the devices they already use.

You already have a library

Folders, NAS, SMB, or UPnP/DLNA — Nucube works with what you have. No migration required.

You want one experience

The same app and library behavior on desktop, mobile, and when controlling Hi-Fi.

You don’t want another system to maintain

No dedicated music server and no proprietary library to feed. Your device stays in control.

Detailed Fit & Expectations
Getting Started

What do I need to get started?

Access to your own music files

Your music can live on a computer, NAS, local shared folder, external drive, or media server. Nucube connects straight to your audio assets.

No server maintenance required

Unlike traditional self-hosted audio stack solutions, Nucube does not force you to run a complex dedicated database or convert your library.

Sync

The library follows you

Desktop and mobile share one library

Albums, artists, playlists, and playback state are shared across desktop and mobile — Linux, macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android.

Not the audio files

Sync is the database. It is not files on the phone, and it is not playing with the network gone.

Offline

Play with the network gone

Download albums onto this device

Download albums from remote storage onto that phone or laptop. Then play with no network.

Not library sync

Nucube does both. Sync so the library follows you. Download so you can play when the network is gone. Offline does not replace Sync.

Privacy

Listening without a profile

No tracking, no ads, no streaming APIs

Nucube does not log your habits, serve ads, or hook your library to Spotify or Apple Music.

Not a commercial streaming client or social network

It does not replace Spotify or Apple Music. It is software for your personal media library.

Ownership

Leaving streaming behind?

Albums, files, and collections under your control

Streaming services are convenient, but they are built around catalogs you rent, recommendations you do not control, and platforms you depend on. Nucube is built for the music you own. Your collection stays the center.

Not another recommendation machine

It does not connect to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, or Tidal. It does not replace one recommendation machine with another.

Playback

Where can Nucube play music?

Local, UPnP, and gapless on both

Play on the device — iOS, Android, and desktop — on a local stack (Rodio, Symphonia, CPAL). Stream to a Hi-Fi renderer over UPnP. Gapless on both. Formats sit under the local stack.

Not tied to one hardware brand

Use it with compatible streamers, Hi-Fi systems, smart speakers, and software renderers. It is not tied to one hardware brand or one media server.

Final read

Is Nucube for everyone?

Built for people who own their music

It is built for people who still care about owning, organizing, browsing, and listening to their own music. If that sounds like you, Nucube may be a good fit.

Not for everyone

Nucube is probably not for you if you mainly use algorithmic playlists, do not keep your own music files, or want a single app for every kind of media.
